The photoemulsion on the squeegee side is not curing during exposure. Perform test exposures to find optimal exposure time. Refer to proper exposure instructions.
Greater thickness needs greater exposure time. For extremely thick stencils, use image mate "CL" versions to allow better light penetration.
Age of Bulb
An old bulb results in a weak exposure. Replace the bulb and retest for proper exposure times.
Weak light source
Lengthen exposure times or use image mate "CL" versions for even faster exposure rates.
Stencil is not dry
Follow proper drying instructions. High humidity conditions keep stencils from drying sufficiently.
Development conditions
Use luke-warm to cool water for development with a fine spray. Hot water and excessively hard spraying may weaken a stencil. Follow stencil development in our instructions & tips section.
Photoemulsion not sensitized correctly
(DZ & DC only)
Sensitize emulsion as directed on container.
If the photo initiator, Diazo Sensitizer Powder, was exposed to extreme heat or light, it may become deactivated.
Photo initiator solution must be thoroughly mixed into emulsion until uniform color.
Entire contents of Diazo Sensitizer Powder must be dissolved and added to photoemulsion as quickly as possible.
Old emulsion
Note sensitized date on container label.
Be aware of pot life on Technical Data Sheet.
Inconsistent coating thickness
Thick edges will underexpose, use even coating pressure and speed. Refer to coating the screen section in our instructions & tips section.
